When People’s Church began meeting in 2005, they congregated in a movie theater and had 400 members. The church purchased fifty acres of land in north Oklahoma City for a new facility. The church had the goal of reaching out to the Oklahoma City and Edmond communities and expanding its worship capability. They selected the architectural firm of Bockus Payne Associates for expertise in church design and church and campus master planning. With a strict budget and program designed to meet the church’s goals, Bockus Payne collaborated with the church to create a five phase master plan.
The exterior of Phase one is contemporary in design. It is an insulated, concrete panel structure designed to be functional, yet economical. This structure includes a state of the art auditorium and steps back from the iconic entry which incorporates large glass panels giving the church an inviting feel. The entry is covered with a red metal roof which is brow shaped and is flanked by two covered walkways. A red metal fascia on the top of the concrete structure ties the entry to the building. Classrooms are also included for religious education of all ages. People's Church believes in ministering to the whole family.
Phase two through five reach out to capture the beauty of the site while creating a welcoming church campus atmosphere. At the completion of Phase I, the church had grown to 1,000 members and is over 5,000 members today.
