Design Brief

The Rose Home project, completed in 2022, is a 6,750-square-foot facility designed to provide a safe and nurturing environment for expecting mothers in need of support. Its mission is to offer resources that support long-term health and success for both mothers and children, giving them a safe space to heal, grow, and work toward a brighter future.

The entryway is serene and inviting, leading to open-concept living spaces filled with natural light and views of a screened patio. Custom millwork, cabinetry, and storm shutters in the chapel enhance both functionality and warmth. The color palette blends bright whites, warm wood tones, and calming pastels, while locally sourced brick and wood-look LVT contribute to sustainability. Biophilic elements and custom artwork, including floral patterns and bison motifs, deepen the connection to the local community.

Rose Home features eight resident suites, two of which are ADA-compliant, alongside a multipurpose classroom, counseling room, playroom, and chapel. These spaces meet both individual and group needs, supporting prenatal care, life skills development, and spiritual reflection. The playroom offers children a safe space to play while mothers take time for themselves, and the chapel serves as a retreat for meditation, yoga, and prayer. Additional features include a Donation Storage room for essential items, such as baby clothes and toiletries, conveniently accessed through the laundry room. The exterior design, with a pitched roof, asphalt shingles, brick veneer, and lap siding, creates a sense of familiarity and security. Despite the small site, the design team worked with civil engineers to incorporate outdoor play areas while meeting city requirements for a detention pond and emergency vehicle access.

Thoughtfully designed to foster stability and independence, Rose Home provides essential resources and opportunities for mothers to rebuild their lives. With inviting living spaces for reflection, education, and community, the facility empowers residents to achieve long-term success and well-being.
